Yes, I'm a bad, bad girl - I jumped ship! I started playing Warhammer yesterday. Here are my thoughts on it compared to Conan
Conan: AWESOME fight movement
WH: swing, swing, swing... same movement no difference
Conan: graphically superior - compare the water effects to see what I mean
WH: cartoony look all around. No ripples in the water. Sad, sad shape. SWG looks superior and that's several years old.
Conan: Quest story lines are captivating. You actually want to read them and know what's going on
WH: very little plot to it. here's your task, go do it.
Conan: Adult content. Boobs with nipples. 'Nuff said
WH: perma-panties and bra. Ugly pink even.
Conan: Decapitation, blood, gore, SPLAT!
WH: Warner bros. anyone?
So why have I moved over to warhammer?
OMFG I missed PvP! The RvR is so much fun! I don't know how long it will captivate me. It's reminding me of Camelot, which I had a great time in for over a year. I'm hoping the high end questing crap gets better and that RvR continues to kick ass. I'll keep you posted.
well considering PVP has never meant anything to me it sounds like no reason at all to play WH...except that DW is there. But for the most part I don't like people in games. They have a tendency to suck all of the fun out of them.

It's funny, yesterday or the day before or something tang and I logged in JUST as you all logged out. I was SO pissed! We got on just in time to see all your names drop from the list. LOL We were on for a few hours hoping you'd come back.... of course there was no Blysster to track you guys down on at the time :banghead:
Ah well. I'm glad you're getting your PVP fix--just not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. Though I'd like to try it in Conan with all of you in a big group. I know Tater wants to do it.

Ken was taking care of all the accounts and getting WH set up. I was asleeping after hurting myself all over the place this weekend. (I'm in my clumsy phase - tripping over baby gates, falling down stairs, slipping into the hot springs... it's not a pretty site at all!)
He had to delete his because he didn't have room on the gaming partition for more than one of the games. I thought he deleted mine too, but there's still an icon on my desktop so I'll have to check it out.

Did you leave Conan? :hissyfit:
I can't have two subscription games going at once, so for the time being, we have left Conan. I was going nuts with the frigging grind, grind, grinding of kill tasks. The end quests are all stupid group only instances, so our game time was spend grinding. It's really mind numbing to do that. That's not to say I won't come back to finish up Conan. I am a bit irked I didn't finish up to at least 80 on one character, but I need a break from it for now.

Sniff:( my machine wont run conan
Work on that =D We'd love to have you in Conan =)
I'm afraid I'm going to have to be the voice of dissent here...
I also jumped into WAR. But I do like it a great deal. I found Conan had started to stagnate somewhat, the amazing promise that began with the solo destiny quest line trickled out when it became, like 1 quest every 10 levels or so.
Conan: AWESOME fight movement
WH: swing, swing, swing... same movement no difference
I found the opposite as a demonologist. Every spell I cast was underwhelming in terms of animations. And every time I would cast it looked like I was smiting enemies with my awe inspiring long distance tai chi strikes. Fear my slow motion wrath. The coolest effect was also the most broken. Spellbinding just doesn't work...it's a bright, twinkly way to bleed to death.
Conan: graphically superior - compare the water effects to see what I mean
WH: cartoony look all around. No ripples in the water. Sad, sad shape. SWG looks superior and that's several years old.
In this I think there is some confusion between the level of realism vs the art direction. Conan is far more realistic, but I find WAR superior in it's artistic choices. The first time I wandered into Altdorf and saw the Bright Wizard college on fire...well, that did it for me.
Conan: Quest story lines are captivating. You actually want to read them and know what's going on
WH: very little plot to it. here's your task, go do it.
The destiny quests are captivating....the rest, largely just portals into collection, fedex or sinple kill quests for me.
I found both the games to have a good storyline if you read through the quest detail. And WAR has the tome of knowledge to document everything...and I do mean everything.
Conan: Adult content. Boobs with nipples. 'Nuff said
WH: perma-panties and bra. Ugly pink even.
Mature content for me goes beyond the idea of boobs. I find that on the level of maturity, WAR is pretty much on par, just minus the full nudity...which has never been a telling point for me.
I think the most telling part is whether you're having fun. That should be the only real litmus test of any game.
I used to be pretty much a pve kind of guy, but I will say that WAR's pvp has made a persuasive enough case to pull me in. Last night I participated in keep raids and then spent an hour helping to defend it from opposing players (and when you're defending, you can pour boiling pitch on the poor bastards trying to ram your gate...not exactly Warner Brothers....that woul be an anvil.)
It's fun, will it last, who knows. Even in different games, I'm never farther away than a breath.

I think if there were more mature content (hey, I like boobies and adult situations and adult speech!) and more solo-ability in War I'd give it a shot, but it just holds no interest for me. I'm glad you guys are having fun in it though.
i don't have a machine that can run conan but i'm diggin' warhammer, the witch hunter class is awesome, although having never played conan i can't compare the two

I'm an Archmage. It's the only character I've made so far. And so far, I'm pretty pleased with her.

What servers are people on and what faction? If anybody is playing on Destruction side on 'Red Eye Mountain' give me a hollar on the name 'Dagreth'. I'd still be happy to hear from people in game.
I've been hyped about this game since way before it came out :)
The graphics level is a step back, but from what I've seen its so that it can easily handle 40 vs 40 people nearbye fighting. As opposed to Conan, which well, maybe they have improved in the last couple months, but when I left all I heard was that it was unplayable at that point.
The key factor for me is the pace of the game. Its very fast paced. Usually several different options to jump into at any given moment and all done in 15 minutes or so. Want to jump into a scenario? Want to jump into a public quest? Want to go do quests? You have choices. I'm not really sure how even to explain the pacing difference :) Combat is typically quick and dirty. There are strategies, none of it has to do with figuring out the best chain of your dozen combat skills. I'm still undecided if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Considering the pace of combat in the game, its a necessary thing.
I've also really disliked the whole concept of PVP... until I started playing this game. There's really no such thing as PVP ganking which is always what I thought of when people mention PVP. Its a different style than what I've heard about in other games. Its a method to provide an interesting challenge rather than all the gank-o-rama stuff. Of course your not going to win all the time.... but that in itself is part of the fun... get frustrated, do something else, no in-game reason to endlessly push the rock up the hill.
Conan also has a lot of things going for it. They are just different things.
