:D Ah, fresh movie review. Does the soul good.
Ok, so, first things first: cheesy as all get out. Really. This movie is B to a T. And it rocks. The cast is awesome, the special effects were advanced Army of Darkness quality and were perfect for the film, the plot was really good, and...yes...there are rumors of a sequel.
CAST: awesome. Trevor Matthews (Jack Brooks) is an incredible actor who portrays the troubled, angry (oh so very, very angry) protagonist perfectly. The ditsy, really annoying girl friend is exactly what she is. The air headed professor is a, well....you get the idea.
The special effects were goofy, and awesome. See pictures here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816539/mediaindex) of cast/costumes. It's bloody, but aren't all monster movies?
The plot is simple: man scarred by childhood tragedy, man is trying to deal with psychological scars, man channels his past into fighting the evil underworld of monsters. It's solid, though, and they did a good job with it. It made a good backbone for the movie and it was a good pace.
Sum up: if you're looking for a psychological mind fuck, this is not it. This is good, bloody, cheesy horror that will have you giggling and enthralled. The acting is better than most B films, and yes, you can catch the scene changes (e.g. blood not in the same place as the shot before), but hey, it's all good. My only real disappointment with this film is it ends. In all honestly, it would make a kick ass mini series or tv series. You're sad to see the credits, because yes, the plot ends and it ends well, but you want to see him channel his rage into another monster in a bloody violent explosion.
Rating:
Plot: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: out of 3
Fitting Special Effects: :bowdown::bowdown: out of 3
Corny factor: :pointlaugh::pointlaugh::pointlaugh: out of 3
Overall rating: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: :yourock: out of 5
Kudos for the sequel that will grace our screens if rumors are true  :bandevil: :yourock:
