I wanted to go see this but felt like crap and was worried about it being as good as the trailer looks.
Thanks for the advice...I'll probably check it out next week or so.

^_^

Great acting. Great plot. Great special effects.

It's gory, it's ugly, it's dark.

The movie is a 3 hour steady pace nergasm of incredible visuals and all those little details that make a movie so much meatier (pay attention to signs, like the auto repair shop, where the two night owls enjoy nights, and the newspaper at the end).

This one is a repeat theater adventure and a must on a DVD wish list.

The acting was just...words can't describe how incredible the cast is. The plot is intricate and detailed and has so much more to it than the stuff Marvel has been putting out. You love the characters you should logically hate, and it leaves you thinking and second guessing your perceptions of the world. (at least, that's what it did to me).

The effects were very smooth. Every once in a great while you'd get a glimpse of the generated stuff, but not often. It was incredible how much they paid attention to detail.

This movie is dark; I feel like the previews showed you just how dark, but they barely touched on the violence and sadism in the movie. The previews didn't do it justice.

OVERALL: :shineeye::kneel::drool:

Oh, and go see it. You'll kick yourself forever and ever if you don't see this bad boy in theaters.

Its a great movie, it really tackles a lot of the things I think about when my mind starts trying to rationalize superheros.

As mtcady said the music is perfection. It does a great job of giving you a feel for the time and the mood, not just of the characters, but the world as a whole.

The best line....

"You don't seem to understand, I'm not stuck inside here with you...your all stuck insdie here with me!"

See it...love it.

yep. loved every second. what little they changed between the comic and the movie did not put a damper on it at all.

I will confess to watching the movie and thinking.."Wow Night owl has a nice butt on him...but his chest needs to be bigger, I mean you need the right package to attract a guy like.....dammit I'm checking him out...I REALLY need to get laid"

Seriously, thats the exact thought I had...but later on I said "screw it...mmmm nice boobs on her....wow that brings a new meaning to blue balls...now there is a set of pecs Id like to shove my face against!!"

You read it, you can't unread it....:muwahaha:

Well, I know that I am going to be the unpopular opinion but I did not care for the movie. Ben was too excited to go see it - so we went.

Now, I never followed the graphic novel and I was just told that it is a more realistic look at superheroes.

It was too brutal and real then I like my entertainment to be. :yikes: I did think that some of the effects were cool but it was just too depressing for me.

Okay, I finally saw it.

Alan Moore, the author of the original work (and V For Vendetta, From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, etc.), said it was unfilmable.

Alan Moore was wrong and should stop being such a cranky old bastard.

The movie, to my thoughts, humanizes the book. My take on the original was always that, while good, it was a tad dry and none-too-subtle about its underlying morality. Preachy, in a word.

I think the movie does a good job of letting the characters behind the words really shine through; and I think it adds a lot more emotional impact to the entire thing.

It's dark, and it's depressing; the original work is referred to as the death of the superhero genre. But it's also an interesting cautionary tale; the kind of thing I think we always need to keep some of those wilder impulses in check.

As to the literal translation of the book; I was pretty pleased with it. There are a few things I definitely noticed were cut from the film, but they were all minor--the most noticeable was that the death of a minor character was removed from the film. Instead, said character simply didn't appear after that, so the overall effect remains the same.

I'm rambling a little--it's 1:30 and I just got home from seeing it. Short version: This, like Sin City before it, and for all its faults and features, elevates the comic book movie to an art form. Worth the price of admission.
