Nightmare on Elm St. 2010
Robert Englund has been de-throned, the new Freddy is much more nasty, smart, creepy and just all-around awesome. While the movie itself isn't really a remake, just more of a do-over it blows the original out of the water, and as most of you know i'm not a Freddy fan.....but i was floored by Jackie Earle Haley's performance, he was pretty much everything i wanted out of Englund's Freddy.....anyway
you all know the plot, but we get to see a bit more into Kruger's past....which is one of the reasons he's nastier in this one, correct me if i'm wrong but in the original he was only a murderer of children, this one he does a bit more. As for the other characters, Nancy is the only one (in name anyway) to appear. the storyline was good enough to make the movie interesting throughout, never a dull moment. not much in the comedy department, this one takes a more serious, sinister route. i really don't have anything negative to say about this one, BUT it would have been kinda cool if they had gone with the twist that arises as to why they are being killed off.....but then again it may have taken some of the deamonization out of Freddy.
6 out of 5 stars
3 thumbs up
and definatly one to see on the big screen
"If there is in fact, a heaven and a hell, all we know for sure is that hell will be a viciously overcrowded version of Phoenix — a clean well lighted place full of sunshine and bromides and fast cars where almost everybody seems vaguely happy, except those who know in their hearts what is missing... And being driven slowly and quietly into the kind of terminal craziness that comes with finally understanding that the one thing you want is not there."
